Mike Coleman asked me to build a new bass to replace the bass that he played for nearly fifty years and completely wore out.

I wanted Mike to be comfortably familiar with the feel of his new bass, so the neck and string spacing is the same specs. He supplied the James Reed pickups with the spalted maple covers.  The electronics are passive with both stereo and mono outputs.

The body is made of Curly Maple, the neck is maple / wenge / Purple Heart with a birds-eye maple fretboard. The bridge and knobs are cocobolo and the nut is Purple Heart.  There are abalone inlays of clovers and shamrocks. The bass weighs 7 pounds.
